Swales Leads Alleymen To Dramatic Improvement
After a disasterous first season last winter, the Wardlaw-Hartridge Bowling team, under the leadership of captains Jeff Friedlander and All County Bowler Tom Swales, posted a 22-66 record this year. Although this may not seem that fantastic, it is much better than their 3-52 record of last year. The seven man squad managed to out bowl four tough opponents-South Plainfield, Immaculata, Saint Joseph’s, and Somerville.
Captain Tom Swales maintained a steady 179 average to pace the team and was not only ranked first in Middlesex County but was also ranked second in the state. The bowlers are coming around, and, in the words of one team member, “we’ve come a long way, baby.”
