THE JUNE PLAY — 1935
After gazing anxiously at the threatening gray skies all day, the undaunted cast of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” gathered hopefully at the Main House to have their faces coated with greasy make-up. Although a wooly fog and a light rain set in, the play went on as all plays must. The staging, thanks to Mrs. Addoms, our ever-patient and indispen sable director, was most effective. The transparent fog lent a fairy-like touch to Shake speare’s charmingly fantastic play. The most striking part of the entire performance was the final scene, in which the children from the lower grades, dressed in fluttery, filmy chif- fons and waving small flashlights, performed an engaging dance originated by our ingenious Miss Stinson. The play was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience as well as by the actors.
