Even if you believe with Sir James Jeans that man is bnt an accident on a transitory planet, you must realize that not only can he change or modify his accidental surroundings but he can modify or change his own character; he can learn; he can acquire qualities that, apparently, he did not hitherto possess—qualities that may make his world, permanent or impermanent, a place of greater beauty. No matter what you believe, that power is yours. Use it, so that when your test comes there may be no sadness.
Nineteen Hundred Thirty-five, all but two of you have been our children for five years or more. And seven have been ours for twelve or thirteen years. This school will always be a part of you as you will always be a part of it. It cannot lose you. And whatever blessing it has to give goes with you everywhere.

INKLINGS
This year the school embarked on a new enterprise. We can now7say with pride and pleasure that we have a school paper! Furthermore, it’s a great success, thanks to the editors who have worked hard over it. To date there have been two copies. I’m sure that there was no greater excitement when the first copy of the New York Herald was printed. For some time we had been thinking about a title and finally "Inklings” was decided on, but we still didn’t believe we actually had a paper until it was in our hands. Since we now- have a literary paper, we are going to do something new. The Inklings is going to take over the literary contest which the Annual usually gives. We are all very proud of our paper, and we thank the one whose idea it was and congratulate the editors on their success.
