Come to the fair” I luimrnecl under my breath as I set
out in high spirits for the annual llartridge hair, gi\'en to raise money lor the Children’s Ward in Muhlenberg 1lospital. Long before 1 reaehed the auditorium the sound of festix'e merriment met my ears, and when 1 reached the door 1 paused to enjoy the picture of color and animation the room presented. Laughing jieople passetl lightly from one gayly eolored
booth to another, and in happy-go-lucky lashion continued to load their X already o\’erflowing arms with more odd-shaped paekages.
As 1 strolled through the crowd I caught sight of a gaudily dressed clown, who urged e\'eryone to follow her to the Midway where howling, Inlliards, popcorn, or punch could he enjoyed, d'he children were kept busy exclaiming o\’er the attractix'e h'.astcr table filletl with bunnies and candies, and taking chanees at the grab hag, jealously guardetl by tiny In dians seated outside their wigwams.
At one end of the room the Seniors were selling flowers and cakes to eager customers, and the one-year girls had a table ol brass and copper ware. .At the other end the Juniors offered dainty home-matle candy and enticed unwary passers-by into buying huge balloons, d'he Sophomores, dressed in gay pajamas, sened tea on the stage, now disguised with the
aitl of lanterns as a Japanese tea garden.
,\s 1wandered through the crowd I was greatly interested in the wide
\ariety of articles displayed by the other classes; costume jewelry, station
