Peter A. Ritchie, editor, and Eric R. Galton, feature editor, headed a Beacon staff that worked successfully this past year to turn out a good school newspaper. The Beacon since February had the “historic” job of covering the beginnings of con struction of the new school on Inman Avenue.
Editorship of the sports page changed this year with each issue as more tenth graders, fresh from their ninth-grade course in journalism, were brought into active reporting. Art work for the Beacon, which Mark H. Harris, Bruce G. Barnett, and Denis G. Quinlan executed, was noteworthy. The paper enjoyed its last year of B. Ivan Glark’s photography. Readers chuckled over twelfth grader Yale E. Geftic’s sports-page column, “From Left Out.”
