W-H school students from all three divisions participated in a weeklong celebration of Chinese New Year. On January 23rd, during morning meeting, international students carried in a dragon to the AP room, signaling the start of the celebration. Middle School students participated in the festivities by giving power point presentations to Lower School students. Along with the seventh graders, the fifth graders tasted traditional Chinese food and made lanterns. Sixth graders did various arts and crafts, sang the Happy New Year song, and researched and presented facts about Chinese New Year.

Batts, received coveted prizes.
Mrs. Liu was pleased with the weeklong celebration. She said, “1definitely saw a lot of enthusiasm. It’s good to see that now the students know a lot about Chinese New Year. They jumped into the activities right away and they learned more about that important day.”

Alumni Day
graduates returned to Wardlaw- Hartridge to share information about their lives as college freshmen and to give advice to both juniors and seniors. Mrs. Swenson asked the alumni to introduce themselves and to describe their college experience so far. After they had finished, current seniors and
juniors were able to ask questions. During lunch, many more alumni returned to school to have pizza and IU Ieeuillicci Willi U1U UICIIU^.
Three eighth graders were recognized for their achievements in the American Math Challenge, a competition designed to challenge and inspire students to learn more about mathematics. On January 10, Mrs. Cerminaro announced the winners and presented certificates to them. Max Needle received first place, Sonali Shah finished in second place and Christopher Zdenek finished in third place.
