The Student Council also announced that half of the proceeds raised from the entrance fee to the semi-formal would be donated to Operation Smile-a practice that has become a tradition over the years. Semi thus becomes more than a dance. It is a fundraiser to help bring smiles to children around the world who are born with facial deformities.
is Lower School Cabaret: more than musicians
j* After Halloween, Valentine’s Day is the most festive holiday in W-H, with each division celebrating in its own way. The Lower School students partied . and danced in Laidlaw Gymnasium, starting with the youngest members of the W-H community and ending with the fifth grade. The pink, red, and white decorations lentatmosphere to to festive occasion. Assummed up by Sydney Johnson '20, "It was really fun with a new DJ who played popular songs. The food was great and everyone had a good time." In anticiption of the upcoming special day, the Middle School held its Valentine's Day dance in the AP room on February 10th. According to Steven Bessette '18, "It was awesome and 'musicish.' I had fun." In the Upper School, students enjoyed receiving messages attached to bags of candy and little stuffed animals, purchased by
their friends and admirers from the senior class candygram fundraiser.
The Lower School was given a special treat on March 6, as various fourth and fifth grade students showed off their talents in the second Lower School Cabaret of the year. The performances included several types of dance, vocal and instrumental pieces, a poetry reading, and even a martial arts demonstration.
