I am very proud of our fourteen seniors who completed the
Capstone course. Anyone who attended one or more of the
Capstone presentations in April could see the effort and
passion that the students brought to this experience. This
course makes significant demands on them. They must lead
and synthesize com plex sources, construct a sophisticated
thesis, and craft an argument in support of it. They are also expectedtodosome authentic,"action"research.Thiseffort
to make something or do something beyond text research helps to make their findings and arguments more practical and original. I was particularly impressed with the students' presentations. Writing and delivering a 30-minute presentation, using three types of multimedia, and speaking to a room full of people is a daunting task, and everyone ol
our students did this with great poise and authority. I congratulate our 2016 Capstone students. It was pleasure working with you all, and 1hope your experience will be memorable and valuable in the future.
Students across three divisions packed the Oakwood Room to hear the findings of a year long research on various topics by fourteen capston candidates.
Lively discussions and
questions followed each * j presentation.
