How To Make The Most
Out Of Your
Digital Business Card
WHAT ARE DIGITAL BUSINESS CARDS?
If you were told that 88% of the networking you’re doing is a waste of time, would you beleive it? Because that’s the percentage of business cards that get thrown away after one week. All the effort you put into networking at events and making contacts is doing absolutely nothing for you. Not to mention the time and money that goes into business card design and the cost of card printing. What's the solution? A digital business card.
Digital business cards have slowly been gaining ground in the networking market over the last five years. A variety of apps offer different takes on the service, from early incarnations which created a photo album of business cards to more recent versions which incorporate matching, augmented reality and location services.
Traditional business cards are a great example of when ‘But we’ve always done it that way’ thinking fails.
Digital Business Cards make networking more efficient
‘But I love my cards!’ I hear you saying. Great, but that doesn’t mean they’re working for you!
The way we connect with each other is changing. So it is certain that how we use business cards will have to change.
The problem with traditional business cards is that they largely don’t work for their intended purpose.
As stated, up to 88% of business cards are thrown out within a week. It doesn’t matter how much effort went into card design, artwork or logos – that’s still the number you’re working with.
The biggest reason people give for “throwing out” our business cards is that they didn’t need the service being provided at that time.
That’s right! It’s not that they didn’t like you or you gave a bad pitch. it is a question of timing.

Not only do business cards function as an important means of sharing contact details, but there is an entire social etiquette built up around them.
We are culturally completely obsessed with business cards. They are very often the first impression we give to a prospective business partner.
