 Bargain Hunter
Is Lamborghini’s most affordable sports car also its best?
by MATT BUBBERS
YOU KNOW THAT FEELING WHEN THE SWAG
you’ve been keeping a tab open for sudden-
ly goes on sale? Or when those late-model sneakers you have a hankering for pop up online for way too cheap? It’s that “too-good- to-be-true” feeling, the one that has you smashing the add-to-cart button — that’s the Lamborghini Huracán EVO RWD.
Look, we know the almost-$250,000 price
tag doesn’t exactly make this machine bar-
gain-basement material, but relative to Lamborghini’s other vehicles, it kind of is. Not only that, it’s also Lambo’s best car right now.
The original, first-gen Huracán was, admittedly, better to look at than to drive. The second-gen EVO version changed everything, making it sharper and wildly entertaining. This
new RWD version strips away the all-wheel drive system, sending the V10’s considerable power to the rear wheels only. It’s more agile, more responsive, and the stakes are higher with no all-wheel drive system to save you from yourself. Yes, we can confidently say the best Lambo sports car right now is also the cheapest.

     Hot Take
The 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 from the good people at Porsche is an exceptional car to drive
by MATT BUBBERS
IN CASE YOU HADN’T NOTICED, PORSCHE IS
a very German car company. That means when
all the bigwigs get together to name new prod- ucts, they come up with gems like “Panamera 4S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo” and “718 Cayman GTS 4.0.” They hardly roll off the tongue. (German is the language that brought us words like Lebensab- schnittspartner and Freundschaftsbezeigung.)
Forget what it’s called; all you really need to know about the new Cayman GTS 4.0 is that, for most people, it’s the best mid-engine Porsche available. Unlike lesser Caymans, which use a four-cylinder turbocharged motor, the GTS uses a naturally aspirated flat-six. It’s an absolute peach that revs quickly to 7,000 rpm and shrieks like a race car that just escaped from the Targa Florio. Mated to an ultralight chassis, it makes for a su- premely pure little sports car.
Yes, the hardcore Cayman GT4 has more grip and is better for track-day fanatics, but with
its lower limits, the GTS is more engaging and exploitable on public roads. If you’re lost amid Por- sche’s alphabet-soup naming schemes, we’ll make it easy for you: just buy this one.
