Students with IEPs may make schedule changes through the IEP process. Schedule changes will also be considered for medical reasons or if graduation is in jeopardy.
ACADEMIC ACCOUNTABILITY – 50% PROCEDURE:
All students will receive the grade they earn for any nine-week period. If a student earns below 50%, he/she will receive the grade earned. In order to raise the grade to a 50%, the student must earn a passing grade in the following nine weeks. During the fourth nine-week grading period the student will receive the grade he/she earns.
FINAL GRADES:
The Actual grade in Edgenuity will help ensure students are on pace to finish their course(s) by the end of the year/semester. It is expected that students will finish all of their coursework before the course ends. If a student fails to complete all assignments by the end of the course, the Relative grade may be used to determine the student’s final grade.
● 1 Credit - Full Year Courses: Each marking period grade will count towards 25% of the final grade in the course. The average of these grades will then be converted into the letter grade equivalent.
● .5 Credit - One Semester Courses: The same procedure as with a full year course except the two marking period grades will count for 50% of the final grade.
HONOR ROLL:
Honor and High Honor Roll (Grades 7-8)
To receive this recognition, students must achieve a 3.0 average or higher, with no grade lower than a C
recorded for any course during the report period. A 3.6 grade ratio or better will place a student on the high honor roll.
Honor and High Honor Roll (Grades 9-12)
The distinction of Honor or High Honor Roll is awarded each nine-week marking period. Students who earn a 3.25-3.74, with no grade lower than a C recorded for any course for that report period, will be designated as having earned the distinction of Honor Roll. Students who earn 3.75 or above, with no grade lower than a C recorded for any course for that report period, will be designated as having earned the distinction of High Honor Roll.
EDGENUITY FAMILY PORTAL:
Parents of students in grades 7-12 can utilize the Family Portal Feature within the Edgenuity program. This account will allow you to view your child(ren)’s progress in their PDLA courses in the Edgenuity platform. To learn more about what the Family Portal provides, please click here. Please look for an email at the beginning of the year with your log-in information for the Family Portal.
***Parents are strongly encouraged to use the Family Portal feature within Edgenuity to monitor their child’s progress. PDLA staff will contact parents when students are experiencing academic difficulty or not progressing adequately in the course.
PDLA DROP-IN CENTER:
Students in grades 7-12 have access to a Drop-In Center at the High School where they can come into the school building to work on their online courses in a quiet space with reliable internet connection. The center will be located in the library, and will be monitored by a PBSD teacher. PDLA students may elect to use the Drop-In Center to work on their courses instead of working at home. The Drop-in center is available to any student taking a PDLA course, and will be open on days that Plum High School is open to students unless otherwise noted. Full-time PDLA students that are not normally coming into the school building will be required to sign in when entering Plum Senior High School.
PDLA students who are not making adequate progress in their course(s), whether they are behind in pacing or have failing grades, may be required to come into the Drop-In Center for additional support.
