But, if only for the sake of avoiding those ridiculous conundrums— and possible recriminations—let us assume that the identity of the baby in question was that of Harvey J. Yaverbaum or, more precisely, that the baby in question was about to begin the process of forming his identity as that of Harvey J. Yaverbaum. (We will therefore postpone our inves- tigation of parallel-universe theory until our discussion of the baby’s future interest in theoretical physics, an interest that in November 1944 was merely incipient.)
