So it was that, in August of 1986, I agreed to have lunch at Shun Lee Palace with Arthur Beckerman, Norman Dansker’s chief operating offi- cer, to talk about my “going inside.” Perhaps it was a bad idea to take on more stress, but I loved Shun Lee’s cuisine, and I especially liked the idea of a free lunch.
