LONG RANGE PLAN
ARCS Foundation Oregon is guided by the four strategic goals outlined in its Five-Year Strategic Plan for 2018-2023:
1. To increase the number of annual scholar awards.
2. To engage membership to enhance commitment.
3. To sustain and enhance partnerships with Oregon’s leading graduate institutions. 4. To ensure Chapter vitality.
These goals inspire our work and were key considerations in hiring Lori Slaughter as our first Executive Director.
With the added talents of our Executive Director, the Board and Lori are currently working:
• To bring ARCS in alignment with nonprofit best practices.
• To make ARCS even more efficient and successful.
• To give Board and Committee members more time for strategic work and
engagement.
At the June crossover Board meeting, the current Board, newly elected Board members, and Committee members will hold a retreat facilitated by Dr. Sarah Stebbins to educate and engage attendees about non-profit governance and best practices, about the transition from volunteer leadership to shared leadership, and about the clarification of roles and responsibilities between members and staff. Although this retreat will itself move us forward, it will only be one step in what must be a continuing effort by Chapter members, Committee members, the Board, and Chapter staff to keep the Chapter evolving and growing.
This effort is also timely since the Board is proceeding to develop a new Strategic Plan for 2024-2026. We will develop a plan which not only reflects continuing support for our core goals but also establishes measurable guidelines and allows for flexibility, growth, and member satisfaction.
