INTERVIEW OF DAVID BLAIKIE

David left the meeting and the Committee discussed his self-evaluation and the quality of his board service. David is a great analytical thinker; his comments at meetings are always insightful, and he is an excellent colleague. He is very thoughtful in his approach, and not afraid to express disagreement. The Committee then met with David to discuss his self-evaluation and his service on the Board. David expressed an interest in serving for another three-year term, and after he departed the meeting Malcolm moved to recommend to the Board that David be elected for another term. Bill seconded the motion, which was approved unanimously.
INTERVIEW OF MIKE MILLER

The Committee discussed Mike’s self-evaluation before meeting with him. The consensus was that Mike is an excellent board member, offering perspectives that others often don’t think of. His finance and investment expertise is invaluable to the Foundation, and he is extremely insightful. The Committee then met with Mike, and he conveyed that serving on the JSF Board has been a highly positive experience and he is interested in serving another term. The group discussed the comment in his self-evaluation about not spreading ourselves too thin in grantmaking but rather to gain a deep understanding of the impact of our grants and continue to work with organizations we believe are especially effective. After Mike departed the meeting, Malcolm moved that we recommend that the Board elect Mike to another term, and the motion was seconded by David. The motion was approved unanimously.
