THANK YOU
Dear Johnson Scholarship Foundation,
I am writing to express my gratitude for being selected as a recipient of the Johnson Scholarship for the Spring 2024 semester, marking my second year as a recipient of this esteemed scholarship. Receiving this scholarship for another year has had a profound impact on my educational journey, and I am truly honored to have been chosen once again.
As a non-traditional student and a single mother of five, returning to college to pursue my education has been a significant challenge. However, thanks to the generous support provided by the Johnson Scholarship Foundation, I have been able to overcome financial barriers and continue my academic pursuits at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe University.
The mission of Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe University to provide post-secondary and continuing education while advancing the language, culture, and history of the Ojibwe aligns closely with my own values and aspirations. As a tribal member from Red Cliff and a business major, I am deeply committed to giving back to my community and contributing to the enrichment of Indigenous peoples.
The Johnson Scholarship Foundation's dedication to assisting individuals with disabilities, financial need, and Indigenous peoples resonates deeply with me. Your commitment to education as a means of empowering individuals to achieve independence and actively participate in society is truly inspiring. I am incredibly grateful for your belief in my potential and your investment in my future.
I am proud to share that with the support of the Johnson Scholarship, I will be completing my associate of small business management degree this spring and will be enrolling in the Bachelor of Science Business Administration program in the fall. Despite facing challenges, such as balancing academic responsibilities with family commitments and work obligations, I am committed to academic excellence. I have dedicated myself to increasing my cumulative GPA and am on track to graduate with a cumulative 3.5 GPA. Additionally, I made the difficult decision to leave three jobs to focus on my education full-time, further emphasizing my dedication to my academic pursuits.
The opportunity to be selected as a recipient of the Johnson Scholarship for a second year reaffirms my gratitude and appreciation for your ongoing support. Your belief in my potential has not only eased the financial burden of tuition but has also provided me with the encouragement and motivation to pursue my academic goals wholeheartedly.
The legacy of Theodore R. Johnson and his vision for the Foundation to help future generations obtain education is a testament to the transformative power of philanthropy. I am deeply moved by the Johnson family's commitment to making a difference in the lives of individuals like myself, and I am inspired to pay forward the generosity I have received.
In closing, I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to the Johnson Scholarship Foundation for believing in me and for your invaluable support for the second consecutive year. Your investment in my education will have a lasting impact on my life, and I am committed to honoring your generosity by striving for excellence in my academic and professional endeavors.
Thank you once again for this incredible opportunity.
Warm regards,
Jeannie Buckholtz
