A Message from the Chairman of the Board
 4
Our mission is to help people prepare for and obtain a college degree, and our strategy focuses on students with
disabilities, students Indigenous to Canada and the United States, and students from low- income families. The Foundation makes grants to nonprofit organizations that serve those students.
Each of the organizations featured in this report— the American Indian Science and Engineering Society, Elevation Scholars, the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, and Groves Academy—has a different approach to helping people prepare for and obtain a college degree.
Mission-driven means that the Foundation limits its grant-making to organizations that help people prepare for and obtain a college degree, but it does not prescribe how they do this. Education
(and how to obtain it) constantly evolves and the Foundation actively seeks innovative approaches that serve its mission.
I hope that you enjoy reading about the organizations featured in this report and the people they serve. If your organization has a new idea on how to help people prepare for and obtain a college degree, we would like to hear from you. Submit a letter of inquiry on the Foundation’s website and we will get back to you shortly.
Yours truly,
R. Malcolm Macleod, KC
