Monday, March 17, 2025 dinner: We will be enjoying an entrée with both Grilled Beef Tenderloin & Gulf Shrimp.
Please advise Lisa of your selection for Sunday’s dinner and any food allergies or dietary restrictions via email at Loomis@jsf.bz or at 561-659-2005 by Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Thank you!
Looking ahead to September 2025 Meetings
The September meetings will take place in Anchorage, Alaska from September 7-9, 2025. We will be staying at The Hotel Captain Cook. Given the long travel time for most attendees, Bobby suggests that board members consider flying to Anchorage on Friday, September 5.
Tentative Meetings Schedule:
▶ Sunday, September 7 – Grant Program Committee, Executive & Finance Committee, and Compensation Committee will meet, followed by the large group reception and dinner in the evening.
▶ Monday, September 8 – We will visit ANSEP in the morning. Audit & Risk Committee and Governance & Nominating Committee meetings will follow the site visit. We plan to have our JSF dinner on Monday evening.
▶ Tuesday, September 9 – The Board of Directors’ meeting will occur in the morning.
Alaska Pacific University (APU) knows about our planned visit and is interested in hosting us, also. We are considering an optional site visit to APU on Saturday, September 6 in the afternoon, as it may be more convenient for attendees than staying extra days post-meetings. This visit is not yet finalized, but very likely.
“Deaf President Now!” film premieres at Sundance Film Festival
Apple Original Films’ “Deaf President Now!” premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. In 1988, Deaf students at Gallaudet University protested until the school appointed its first Deaf president, Dr. I. King Jordan, marking a pivotal moment for Deaf rights and representation. ABC4 Film Critic Patrick Beatty was able to speak with the 4 students who started the deaf revolution. Watch the interviews at the link below. The film will stream globally on Apple TV+ later this year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXUrT6u7eRM
