SUPPORTS ART CREATION IN LUBERON...

My childhood and adolescence were brighten

up by the " Vasarely constellation" ...

DISCOVERED GORDES IN 1961, AT THE AGE OF 11 MONTHS OLD!. Up I
until 1991, I used to come every summer to spend beautiful vacations
in Devens, the scrubland so dear to my grandparents. They discovered
Gordes just after the war in 1948. In 1948 Victor Vasarely said: “I received

a masterful shock in this stunning South.”
My friends, at the time, were Jeannot Massolo, Joséphine, Anne-
Marie, Claude et Kiki Desailly, Arlette, Edmond et Chantal Avon, Pierre
Viala, Odile Degand, Charles Nissar, Beppy Casarin et Robert, Michèle
Borghino, Patricia Mathieu, Simone and Elie Fiedmann, the anonymous
petanque balls players of the village ...
My like for Mathieu’s olive oil Provencal cooking from Oppède,
for the goat cheese from Murs, for the red Rocalino from Beaumes de
Venise, for the lamb from Sisteron and my love for napping undoubtedly
come from that time.
Today, still, I thank Arlette for her culinary expertise!
1970! The launch of the didactique museum revives the castle and

the village throughout the year.
With the pleasure of swimming, petanque balls games, chess
games in the Borie with my grandfather where everything was allowed,
daily shopping in a 2CV with my grandmother, the Tour de France on
television in the afternoon (the French were winning then! And not just
different stages...).
It is a “lifestyle“ deeply imprinted in me and for a long time, which I
was lucky enough to experience throughout these summers in Gordes.
In Devens, it was open table and open house for all: politicians from
all sorts, Hungarians from Paris, Hungarians from Hungary, artists,
journalists, friends, family and gallery owners.

Regardless of such diversity of people, simplicity reigned daily in
the Bories!
The two great restaurant owners in the village couldn’t be offended,
an “official“ dinner at La Mayanelle, the next one at Le Renaissance!
14th of July ballrooms, village festivals in Gordes and in the villages
around the Luberon punctuated and cheered up the evenings ...
A sweet nostalgic feeling gets hold of me at this very moment.
