With a commitment to Building Responsibly,TM sustainability is part of everything we do.
As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), CertainTeed Ceilings is a leader in the effort to provide solutions that promote sustainable design. We incorporate sustainability at every step – from the product’s raw material content to how it’s handled through manufacturing and shipping, as well as throughout the product life cycle. That results in products that incorporate one of the highest concentrations of recycled content in the industry, plants that continually strive to minimize waste and smarter logistics that minimize transportation needs.
We also offer a recycling program for the return and recycling of old ceiling panels into new products. This program helps participants qualify for valuable points under the LEED® rating system for construction waste management.
CertainTeed is dedicated to making a sustainable difference in as many
ways as possible. We work to provide solutions that reduce the consumption
of non-renewable resources and energy while creating productive, healthy
environments for the future. One of those solutions can be seen at our
L’Anse, Michigan manufacturing facility. The facility receives 100%
renewable electricity from the nearby Warden Electric biomass power
plant, which burns waste wood to generate power. Excess steam from
the utility is also channeled to our factory, reducing overall natural CertainTeed gas consumption by 25% and earning third-party verification of carbon
footprint reduction from the Green Circle Certification System.

– Ecophon® ceilings utilize 70% post-consumer recycled content – the highest of any ceiling panel in North America.
– More than 90% of our manufacturing waste is recycled into ceiling products.
– Our mineral fiber ceiling panels incorporate steel mill slag waste as well as post-consumer waste such as newspaper.

– Decoustics® Quadrillo®, SoloTM and Solo MTM ceiling panels have been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, which helps projects earn points towards LEED® and NAHB certification.
