CR Update SWITCH ON to our Environmental Commitments SWITCH ON to our Environmental Commitments Planet To raise awareness of environmental issues and how we can make a positive difference at work and at home the Planet team hosted Environmental Week (25th - 29th November) across the Group. SWITCH OFF your computer and monitor SWITCH OFF any lights at your desk Remove plugs from desk sockets Place recyclable items in designated bins Think before printing SWITCH OFF Lights, Air Conditioning and Screens When you leave the room. Everyone was encouraged to unleash their eco warrior by taking part in fun and engaging activities during the week. There were daily planet hacks on the Larder, energy saving collateral around sites and a number of recycling initiatives. To ensure the week had a long-term impact, everyone was asked to make a personal or team pledge to actively do something environmentally friendly at home or at work. Pledges across sites have ranged from ceasing to use single use plastic bottles, to planting trees, switching off appliances, finding an alternative mode of transport, banning plastic cutlery and cups - using reusable shopping bags. Thank you for all your pledges and congratulations to all our site winners. We look forward to seeing your pledges in action in 2020 and beyond. Other highlights included: • Clothing recycling generated money for local, site nominated charities. • Volunteers carried out litter picking and beach cleaning activities. • Information was shared on recycling tips. • Energy reduction activities were put in place. • Trees were planted and shrubs introduced in communal areas. Thank you to everyone who was involved. The team is currently reviewing feedback, statistics and suggestions for future activities. 29
