Sam and Miles Collier’s Cadillac Series 61 Sedan de Ville heads under the Dunlop Tire Bridge in 1950. The famous tire company constructed
its first bridge at the track in 1923, with the replica tire appearing five years later, but it was soon banned for violating the ACO’s prohibition against advertising. The bridge returned in 1948, in time for the first postwar race in 1949. The ‘Dunlop Fort’ on the sidewall refers to the works in Birmingham where the tires were manufactured. (Revs Institute)
