OPPOSITE: Buffa seems to be happy as he had just sold his A6GCS for a good price to Odoardo Govoni. The car still had its race number from the Sassi-Superga Hillclimb, but the photograph was taken on the Aerautodromo in Modena. Next to the car is Buffa’s A6G with Zagato coachwork. (LaPresse)
For Italian drivers, the Mille Miglia was the most prestigious race. Odoardo Govoni drove in the tragic 1957 edition. The race was part of the Sportscar World Championship and the rules, issued by the FIA required a provisional soft top for open vehicles. Clearly the top could not withstand the winds when the car was driven flat-out. (Walter Bäumer Collection)
