 This is the second American enquiry recorded and is notable as much for that, as the change in the letterhead, compared with the headed paper for the first Allard specification. Sydney’s mother was no longer a director, there is an additional telephone line and a list of associated addresses. Being both AA (Automobile Association) and RAC (Royal Automobile Club) appointed repairers suggests business was good in 1939.
This well-illustrated advertisement fits the period perfectly with frankly outlandish performance figures as many cars of the day would struggle to exceed 50 mph.
