In order to facilitate servicing in North America, left-hand drive Mark
VIs were fitted with a single Stromberg carburetter of type AAV26, with
automatic cold-start system. The Silver Dawn, which was principally
the Stromberg from chassis SFC102.
series.
RIGHT: In mid-1953, for the R-Type
and ‘long boot’ Silver Dawn chassis, a
fully-welded frame was adopted from
Bentley chassis B349TO and Silver
Dawn chassis SNF1.
BOTTOM AND BELOW: An oil-bath
air cleaner was sometimes specified
for cars destined for countries
deemed to have a dusty environment.

With the introduction of the R-Type, the S.U. type H.6 carburetters
continued to be fitted, but with automatic cold-starting. The Silver Dawn
continued with a single Zenith carburetter, type DBVC42, that had replaced
