BEDIKAT HAMETS
Le 14 Nissan ( veille de Pessah’), dès la tombée de la nuit (à l’appa- rition des étoiles), on procédera à la vérification du ‘Hamets qui se trouve dans chaque domaine qui nous appartient (maison principale, voiture,...). Les synagogues, les maisons d’étude ainsi que les avions devront être vérifiés ce soir-là au moyen d’une bougie.
Cette vérification s’opèrera de la façon suivante :
➜ On préparera 10 morceaux de pain que l’on emballera séparément dans un panier d’aluminium (ou autre) et que l’on déposera dans un endroit différent de la maison.
➜ Le maître de maison se lavera les mains à l’aide d’un kéli (ustensile). Il allumera une bougie, avec laquelle on cherchera le ‘Hamets dans chaque recoin de la maison, puis l’on éteindra les lu- mières.
➜ Tous ceux qui participent à cette vérification ont l’obligation d’être présents au moment de la bénédiction que prononcera le chef de fa- mille. La bénédiction est :
Source de bénédiction tu es Hachem, Roi de l’univers, qui nous a sanctifiés par Ses Commandements et nous a ordonné le brûlage du hamets.
Une fois la bénédiction prononcée, on essayera de ne pas parler (sauf si cela concerne directement la mitsva).
➜ On vérifiera chaque endroit où le h’amets aurait pu s’introduire au cours de l’année.
➜ Une fois la vérification finie, on dira ce qui suit (si on ne comprend pas le sens de cette formule, on le dira aussi en français). Cette formule est dite afin que tout ce qui n’a pu être vu soit considéré comme inexistant. En revanche, on n’annulera pas ce que l’on voit étant donné que l’on sera amené à manger du h’amets ce soir-là ainsi que le lendemain matin (avant la 4e heure).
Que tout hamets ou tout levain qui se trouve en ma posses- sion, que je n’ai pas vu et dont je n'ai pas connaissance ou que j'ai vu et que je n'ai pas détruit soit annulé et considéré comme la poussière de la terre.
➜ Le pain qui doit être brûlé le lendemain, ainsi que celui que l’on doit encore manger, doivent être placés dans un endroit qui n’est pas à la portée des enfants, afin d’éviter de refaire une vérification. On pourra, après cela, prendre son repas du soir.

This check will operate as follows:

➜ We check every place where h'amets could be introduced during the year.
➜ Once finished checking, we say the following (if one does not unders- tand the meaning of this formula, we will also say the French). This formula is said that everything that could be seen or considered non-existent. Ho- wever, we will not cancel what we see as we will have to eat h'amets that night and the next morning (before the 4th hour).
That any chametz , or leaven that is in my possession, I have not seen and I am not aware of or that I have seen and I have not des- troyed or canceled and considered dust Earth.
➜ The bread should be burned the next day, and one we must still eat, should be placed in a location that is not within the reach of children to avoid repeating verification. We can, after this, take his evening meal.
