Eventually, I moved on to another salon where they were doing bouffant hair. That salon had an entirely different model. This is when I was inspired to focus on the latest trends and highly visible people.
I thought differently about everything. To help our salon gain new customers, I went to department stores where I would invite the counter girls to our salon. Of course, they were exposed to hundreds of potential customers. I also watched the fashion magazines and saw that hair was now about movement. The trends were coming out of Paris and London, so I took my first trip to Vidal Sassoon, London with the intent to learn how to use a blow dryer. It was during this time that I began to envision starting my own salon.
Our first store was inside Nordstrom. I built our brand based on the goal of “Being the best at everything you do.” I was adamant that we would be the leader in our industry, providing the best service, location, and overall experience regardless of what service we were providing....and this has continued to be our true North guiding us to where we are today.
