GBRAR is a mission driven and member focused organization, governed by volunteer leadership. The most recent strategic planning process will allow for many more opportunities to serve, but in more talent-focused ways. This may be done through committees, task forces or work groups.
All volunteers serve by appointment of the President and confirmation of the Board of Directors. Meetings are held specifically for the purpose of conducting business of the Association. Association members volunteer to get involved and make the decisions that guide GBRAR. Unless noted below, all committee assignments are a one-year term.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE: ONE YEAR TERM — Meets Monthly Chair: Kristina Cusick | Vice Chair: Sandy Scallan
Purpose: Responsible for providing general educational programs and projects, including cooperating with other local, state and national associations; works closely with all other committees to facilitate the education of the membership. REALTOR® Members Only.
Task Highlights: In 2019, GBRAR recorded approximately 5,900 in attendance in over 140 free educational offerings. At that time, the majority were free live courses with a few free virtual. GBRAR offered at least one state mandatory class per month and the ethics training required by NAR. GBRAR, when hit with the global pandemic, listened to our members’ needs. In August, GBRAR began offering many free accredited virtual classes, including the mandatory topics. During 2020 our Association, in conjunction with our online providers, managed to provide more Webinars and Online courses than ever before, accommodating over 4,000 attendees. We now have slowly and carefully re-introduced live classroom education opportunities while staying within the safety guidelines.
During 2020, the Professional Development Committee faced unprecedented times. But through our online partners and extremely knowledgeable Affiliate Members and REALTOR® Members were able to provide zoom webinars, online and in-person quality courses on a variety of topics covering every aspect of the real estate business from Virtual Real Estate, Lead Generation, Social Media, Managing Multiple Offers to Wowing Buyers to Closing 75 Transaction without Buying Leads. We provided A CRS designation course on Systems A and continuing education courses to include but are not limited to the LREC Mandatory Fair Housing, NAR’s Triennial Code of Ethics, various technology courses for today’s REALTORS at little or no cost to GBRAR Members.
