Keith: Keith, my buddy, my pal, my son. I have no words to say about how much I love you. You are everything to me. Coming in and learning things as a DM is nothing easy, and you immediately came in and absolutely KILLED it. You deserve all the praise in the world. You got it man. You get it. It’s your turn now, and I know that Alyssa and I can graduate from here knowing that the band is in the best possible hands. I love you. Thank you for everything you have taught me.
Jim: Sick of me yet? I really want to say thank you for teaching the band and me so much about darn near everything. The advice you give is ALWAYS exactly what we need to hear. On top of that, there is never a time when I don’t laugh talking to you. You are truly one of the most inspirational people in this program, so thank you for inspiring me to be the best I can be.
Sarv’s dogs: I LOVE YOU AND WILL PET YOU FOREVER. MAKE YOUR MOM GIVE YOU TREATS FOR ME!!!
Sarv: Where to begin. I can’t thank you enough. Through the four years together, you have shaped the way I have learned how to teach. You lead by example, putting your students first. Your passion for this craft is so unique and incredible. There is no one else who could’ve possibly taught me what you taught me. You are the perfect example of what a band director should be, and I will never forget the lessons you taught me. I can say so much more and say it more eloquently in person, so we need to grab lunch sometime soon to properly thank you for all you’ve done. I’ll leave you with this: I have never had such a positive influence on my life who wasn’t a direct family member, so thank you for being a family member by extension. You are everything the UDMB is, and the UDMB is everything you’ve made it to be.
Matthew Greene ~~
I guess it’s time for me to write one of these things. I honestly have no idea where to start, partly because I’m shit at writing words but mainly because so much has happened to me in the last 4 years. A vast majority of my college memories have been through the UDMB, from as basic as my first college football game, to the experience that was marching the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade (which by the way is still one of my favorite college memories to this date). From the first time you step onto the field for Pregame and you make the tunnel to play Juice (yes that’s what it’s called), you start to think that you’ll be doing this forever. All of that changes once you’re standing with the rest of your senior class, you’ve said your last “eyes, with pride,” and you have to turn around and face the rest of the band. The people I’ve met through this organization have made my experiences here at UD nothing short of amazing and continue to prove the point that this group really is a big family. I have a lot of people I want to thank (some have gone, and some remain) and some people I want to will things to (you know, this being a Senior Will and all).
2016-2018
Gabby Ciafardo – You were my first “pit mom” and even though I was actively scared of you at times (especially after I accidentally sent porn in the chat which I’m still sorry about to this day) you showed me how to take charge when shit needed to get done. After being named section leader this year I took a lot from your philosophy and tried to utilize parts of it. All in all, thank you for everything you did my Freshman year.
