recognized Kevin Sawka from band camp at the activities fair table. The same thing could be said about Sigma Alpha Iota, a group of musical women that I will be connected to moving forward. There were/are so many sisters in band, and I feel as though that having these connections now have helped me over time and will continue to help me moving forward.
Now that the Sparknotes of my marching band life are out of the way, it’s time to go down the line.
Trumpet Line 2019 - Hey trumpets! I know I don’t know some of you as well as I should, but I am happy to have gotten the chance to march with all of you this year. I am proud that this was my last year as a collegiate member and I can’t wait to come back as an alumni so I can cause even more chaos. Heart. Soul. Sound. Always. In everything that you do.
Stephen Anthony and Andrew Gkonos – You both are going together, not only because you are best couple, but also because you both were my primary DOT BUDDIES. Thanks for being awesome people that happened to be located next to me for most of the shows. Stephen, you stressed me out every time you “tempted fate”, but you always made me laugh. Andrew, you are a very...flexible person...what else can I say?
Alyssa Perrin – You were the person I constantly talked to every MWF while in ranks, so you get a shoutout too. Thanks for being such an awesome rookie – WHO ABSOLUTELY KILLED IT IN HER FIRST YEAR IN A MARCHING FIELD BAND EVER! I know some things are still confusing at times, but I meant what I said about you being a great future staff member. Think about it. But regardless of what you decide, I know you are going to nail whatever you do moving forward.
Allie Landrie – I wish you the best of luck in joining the trumpet studio beginning next semester! While I won’t really be around because of student teaching, I should still see you in trumpet ensemble and such. I also felt I should give you a special shoutout because I’m so grateful for the personalized card you gave me earlier in the semester. It really meant a lot to me and it is still on my desk where it gets read once a week or so. It means a lot and you have this way of connecting with people that is infectious. Hold on to that, because that’s a really special way of being able to connect with people, even those that you wouldn’t think you would get to know otherwise.
Austin Gray – I’m so glad that we got the opportunity to really become closer to each other this semester. Both in band and in the studio. You are so funny, talented, and you were an excellent staff member this past season. I look forward to coming back and seeing how much more you have grown into your role.
Sam D’Amore – Again, sorry for tipping your couch. In all seriousness, I’m glad I’ve gotten the opportunity to work with you, whether in Marching Band, Pep Band, or in 8-Bit. Your puns kill me a little bit each time, but I always know that when you say you are going to do something, it’ll get done. You’re dependable and I know you WILL (get it? Cuz it’s a senior will? ...I’m going to go hide in a corner now.) do great things. Whether it be as a leader in the marching band, 8-Bit, or elsewhere. Thanks for always being able to put up with my weird developing nerdiness/awkwardness. Also thanks for getting me obsessed with the soundtrack of Hollow Knight because I’m definitely buying that in the next few months.
Connor Tamaki - *sigh* I’m not really sure where to begin, and that sounds terrible on paper. While there are times where I feel you take a step over a line, I know you are overall an excited and creative person. While I don’t need to hear that I need to watch Attack on Titan or Clones Wars for the millionth time, I know it’s something that you are passionate about and you just want to share that with me. Thanks for being crazy, because it definitely added some much-needed chaos into my
