a 12-13 credit class. On a more personal note, I thank you both for allowing me to take marching band this semester with the debacle that was the end of my spring semester. This has definitely been my favorite and most rewarding year of band in my 4 years of being here. I am super excited to be a UD alum and come back to see my UDMB family. Once again, congrats on 25 seasons!
Jacob Moore – Where should I start? Freshman year roommate, first friend at UD, fellow music major, man we’ve been through some real shit together lol. I could go on for PAGES about our experiences together. Forgetting my UDID when doing laundry, Arguing with Thermometers, The Great Gate of Kiev, Legally Blonde, HE LURKS, 50 Shades of Grey, me dying spring semester, the light switch, Dad (just to name a few). After putting up with me and my carcinogenic puns for 2 semesters, you’ve still remained my friend for some reason. And you know what? I’m grateful for that. We are going to keep in touch whether you like it or not.
Brendan Laux – Well, here I am at 2:10am listening to Rhapsody in Blue, you’ve just gone upstairs to go to bed like a smart person, and I have yet to finish this 2 hours past the deadline like a dum dum. No amount of words or pages I write in this damn will can exemplify all that you have done for me. For some odd (and possibly tragic) reason, we just get each other. You are one of a very small group of people I know for a fact I can trust with anything that I say, and one of my closest friends I’ve had my whole life. I could go on, but it wouldn’t be anything you didn’t already know. We will definitely be going to at least 1 Alumni Weekend together; no, you don’t have a choice in the matter, this is happening. And, of course, we will keep in touch; I will find ways of contacting you through any means possible. Thank you. I really appreciate you.
...
Well would you look at the time, it’s now 2:45am. I needed to email this to Sarv, like, 2 hours and 45 minutes ago...whoops.
I guess this is it.
Thank you for everything UDMB. Everything.

There is no end to the magnitude that a simple decision can have. What was one “Sure, why not” can turn into something far greater than you can ever imagine. Far greater than ANYBODY can ever imagine. I had no idea what I was getting into 8 years ago when I decided I would join my high school’s marching band, but 9 shows later, I sure as hell now know what I’m leaving. When I reached the end of my high school marching career, I had originally thought that was it. Four years, some wild shows, and a quick gig as section leader at the end of it. Little did I know how wrong I was.
Mid November of my senior year, I went on a visit with my family to see the University of Delaware. I had heard good things about it from some of my friends in the band, so I figured I’d go check it out. I found out from the mom of a friend of mine that the day we were visiting was also
