friend. I am going to miss you so much and I hope you take care of the sleep team next year as captain.
Alice Eo: This is also a friendship that I am so upset only began this year. Aside from being a super fun-to-be-around person who makes staying up until 2am spinning in the Pug a fun night, you are extremely talented and it honestly amazes me how dedicated you are to guard. I feel like you honestly never stop spinning and that’s probably why you are so good lol. I’m so happy that we got to become friends this year and I am going to miss you so much!
Natasha Gurevich: Hey so I know you aren’t from Huntington, but you’re from Arlington and that’s still NYSFB so I’m like “yeet.” I just wanted to say that it has been so nice being in band you these past 3 years because it has been like having a small piece of home on the field. Other than sentimental NY vibes, you are such a kind person who never fails to brighten my day whether it’s seeing you in the dining hall or saying hi in between classes. Going to miss you next year!
Johnna McGreevy ~~
Now that I have concluded my fourth and final season, I can say with joy that I am done...but I am also tired. Being a part of the University of Delaware Fightin Blue Hen Marching Band has been quite the ride. I recall being a freshman and thinking “How will I ever be able to survive holding these cymbals?” But I did it. I made it through every sweaty rehearsal, every cold night on the practice field, every fast-paced, high-energy game day and every moment with the crazy drumline FOR FOUR WHOLE SEASONS. I was reminded at the last football game how true it is when people tell you it is those you surround yourself with who truly make the difference. For me, these people make up the UDrumline. Everyone else in the band looks at us like we are super cool and sometimes scary, but in reality we are just a bunch of goons who love to drum. I cannot thank the drumline enough for an amazing 4 years. I have learned so much and have been humbled by all those above and below me. You have made me a better cymbal player, leader, follower, educator, friend, and most importantly, a better human. For that, I am eternally grateful. Thank you for accepting me into your world and not giving up on me even when my eyes had a little less pride than Sarv would have liked. I love you all. Now go make me a proud alumna!
SHOUT OUTS
To Lorrha: I was honestly scared for you at the beginning of the season...no offense. But you turned out to be a pretty bomb cymbal player and I’m proud of you for that. I hope you stick with cymbals at least another season because the snares don’t get to hang with Bryan as much as we do. You don’t wanna miss that now do ya?
To Samuel Karcrashski: Similar to Lorrha, I was also scared for you at the beginning of the season. I was afraid you were going to hate it, and I’m glad you stuck around. You are honestly a pretty cool dude, and I think you are going to have awesome experiences at this university in and outside of band. P.S. You will never escape being the rat from Ratatouille. Just accept it.
To Allison: From teaching you at Unionville to marching with you in the UDCL has been an experience not a lot of people get. Your dedication to everything you do continues to amaze me. Despite all your struggles, you always showed up when you were at band. You never wanted to miss
