Laser cutting, threat or challenge to PCM/PEF?

Some concerns/statements from my side:
• Lasercutting is sexy, it is well educated and only in Germany >>2000 people at Universities
and institutes ( Fraunhofer, LZH and many others) are working on laser R&D.
• Speeds are increasing year by year. Power (W) is doubled every three years. LINK
• Lasers are getting cheaper and cheaper. Laser cutting might become a commodity.
• More and more applications. Ten years ago we only had diode lasers and CO2 lasers, currently we do have disk lasers, fiber lasers and usp lasers.
