The LIT Road Transport Students’ Projects Awards 2018
CILT were proud to sponsor the awards held in Limerick Institute of Technology on Tuesday 17 April Hosted by Ailbe Burke who is a CILT Southern Section member and lecturer in Automotive Engineering and Transport Management in LIT Ailbe introduced this year’s students who presented their end of term projects
Students presenting on the evening were; Gerry McCaul, Driver Efficiency Training, Darragh Donnelly, Cyclist Protection (Dooring), Jaden Murray, Bio Gas for commercial vehicles, Alan Walsh, Blind Spot Mirror, and Eric Morley, Driver Shortage CILT guest speakers on the evening were President Helen Noble, FCILT and CEO Mick Curran, CMILT
On the evening Helen and Mick adjudicated as well as Raymond Crowley CMILT, Southern Section Chairperson and Gerard Deegan FCILT, CILT Council and Southern Section member The adjudicators were impressed with presentations from all students, with all displaying their knowledge and understating of their chosen subjects
“It was a great pleasure to see all the hard work that had been put in and to meet the students and discuss their projects I have to say again, the quality and breadth of work was quite exceptional It is evenings like that really remind me of the honour of being President of CILT”, Helen Noble FCILT, CILT President
After much consideration and deliberation, Darragh Donnelly, Cyclist Protection (Dooring) project was selected as the LIT Road Transport Students Projects 2018 winner, for his exciting working demo model Darragh’s impressive system, prevents driver doors being opened into the path of cyclists approaching from the rear of the vehicle The evening finished with refreshments and conversations with students and lecturers
European Supply Chain Day 2018
This year European Supply Chain day was on Thursday 19 April CILT were invited to attend a special evening organised by the National Institute for Transport and Logistics (NITL) in DIT Bolton Street Attending on the evening were CILT members, students on the NILT Masters programme in Supply Chain Management and various stakeholders to DIT
Presentations were given by Alistair Eagles, CEO, Seatruck Ferries who gave a delightful and honest talk to attendees on the development of his business Next was Andy Moran, Head of Logistics, UK/ROI/USA Supply Chain, Primark who gave an insightful look into the managing one of Ireland’s biggest success stories in the retail industry
