End of Waste
IMS are the first company in Ireland to be granted an End of Waste decision (Article 28) by the EPA for construction wastes. This allows us to recycle waste concrete (17 01 01) into secondary aggregates to be used in road construction. The recycled material must meet physical and environmental performance standards as set out by the EPA and the relevant aggregate standard. We supply this certified material to customers who want to improve their overall environmental perfor- mance inline with circular economy principles and best practice in waste management.
Japanese Knotweed Disposal
Japanese Knotweed has become a significant and costly problem which has spread to many areas of Ireland. The plant is an invasive species which is extraor- dinarily aggressive and can poses a substantial threat to the built and natural environment. There are a limited number of options for managing the plant on a site including long term treatment in situ or deep burial (up to 5m below ground level).
Where onsite treatment is not an option or where ongoing management measures are not desirable, offsite disposal of the contaminated material is required to completely remove the plant and associated risks. We are approved by the EPA for biosecure disposal of soils contaminated with Japanese Knotweed at the Hollywood facility. We can assist in arrange export, transport, biosecurity measures and the necessary licence required from the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
