ONE MAN DIES AND SIX FIREFIGHTERS INJURED AT TRUMP TOWER FIRE
A 67-year-old man was killed and six firefighters suffered “non-life-threatening injuries” in an apartment fire on the 50th floor of Trump Towers on Saturday, April 7th.
The New York Police Department said the victim, Todd Brassner, was found unresponsive and unconscious in his 50th floor apartment and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
US President Donald Trump, who has an office and a private residence at Trump Tower, was not in the building at the time. "Fire at Trump Tower is out. Very confined (well built building). Firemen (and women) did a great job. THANK YOU!" Mr Trump said later in a tweet.
Fire officials said no members of the Trump family were in the building at the time. "This was a very difficult fire. As you can imagine, the apartment is quite large, we are 50 stories up. The rest of the building
had a considerable amount of smoke," Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said on Twitter. According to New York City Fire Department, about “200 Firefighters and EMS members” responded to the incident.
