European Supply Chain Day 2016
In order to mark European Supply Chain Day 2016, CILT Ireland organised a series of events for its members during this week. These events were hosted in both Dublin and Limerick and sparked a lot of interest among members, associates and students.
 Wednesday 20th April 2016
Event: The Women in Logistics and Transport (WiLaT) Event – Curriculum Vitae and LinkedIn profile Development.
The WiLaT Ireland event took place on the evening of Wednesday 20th April in CILT Headquarters, 1 Fitzwilliam Place, Dublin 2.
Women in Logistics and Transport (WiLaT) was launched in June 2013 to promote our industry to female members and to encourage and support their career development. By June 2014 WiLaT had over 1600 members in 14 countries and it’s still growing. WiLaT was es- tablished to promote the status of women in Logistics and Transport to bring together those who support the talent and career develop- ment of women and to provide them with a support network and mentoring opportunities within the sector.
The evening was centred around a presentation by Nicola Reid of Sanderson Recruitment which took those in attendance through the main areas of how to improve their curriculum vitae and LinkedIn profile. This event saw a great turnout with both males and females in attendance. Nicola Reid is an associate director who is responsi- ble for supply chain and procurement recruitment. She has over 20 years of experience with consulting in these areas. She talked to all in attendance about CV development and interview success specifi- cally for logistics and supply chain professionals. Nicola’s presentation was very insightful and the evening provided a great networking opportunity for all those who attended, be they studying or working professionals. We thank all who supported the event on the night. Hopefully it was the first of many more to come in the future.

  Many organisations in Ireland are embracing diversity and inclusion within their workforces. For some time now employers have been taking steps to ensure they have an inclusive culture, that their policies and procedures are ‘diversity proofed’ and engaging with their workforce to ensure the benefits of diversity are harnessed for the individual and organisation alike.
The whole area of supply chain diversity is a deeper aspect of diversity and inclusion and one that employers in Ireland have been slower to fully embrace. The reasons for this are varied – with some considering it difficult to engage with and others not seeing it yet as a priority.
However, supplier diversity within an organisation can:
create competitive advantage;
develop an inclusive, competitive supply chain that reflects the demographics of the customer base; create a multiplier effect that adds more jobs, revenue and vitality to communities.
