The Irish National Stud’s Japanese Gardens.
Known to many as the finest Japanese Gardens in Europe, The Japanese Gardens at the Irish National Stud will entice you with its sheer beauty and tranquillity surrounded by natural scenery.
Immerse yourself in the world renowned tourist attraction that was created between the years 1906 -1910. Planned by Colonel William Hall- Walker, the gardens were laid out by Japanese gardener Tass Eida and his son Minoru.
The significance of the gardens is not only artistic and horticultural but also philosophical, religious and historical.
The garden traces the soul of man from oblivion to eternity using rare plants and landscapes that are vividly captivating to one’s senses.
Complimenting the Japanese Gardens within the grounds of the Irish National Stud is St Fiachra’s Garden, designed in 1999 by award-winning landscape architect Professor Martin Hallinan to commemorate St Fiachra, the patron saint of gardeners.
The garden pays tribute to Ireland’s monastic movement in the 6th and 7th centuries, featuring woodland, wetland, waterfalls, lakes and streams all in the same location.
The Irish National Stud and Gardens in Tully is the only stud farm in Ireland open to the public and offering daily tours.
Daily guided tours of the Irish National Stud and Gardens start at 12:00pm, 2:30pm and 4:00pm, each lasting approximately 35 minutes.
