How Can We Know What Helps and What Hinders People Accessing Eye Care?

Introduction:
Effective community engagement with eye care is dependent on many factors. Some of these factors are more or less universal (such as the cost and availability of care) whilst others are very particular to the local context. Efforts to strengthen eye health services and systems must account for the set of factors that help and hinder people in the local community, accessing eye health.
To assist eye health services, understand the barriers
and enablers that local populations experience when attempting to engage with eye care, The Fred Hollows Foundation has developed the Community Engagement in Eye Health Assessment Tool (CEEHAT). This is the rst tool of its kind speci c to the eye health sector.
