As part of the South African team, DUT is working to organize key speakers for this important program, which aims to develop cyber skills across the region.The faculty is also engaged in a close partnership with the University of Leicester in the field of creative computing. This collaboration contributes to innovative research and offers both staff and students opportunities to engage in cutting-edge computing practices.Additionally, the faculty is involved in research collaborations with the City University of Macau as part of a broader initiative to prepare a joint grant proposal that aims to enhance academic cooperation and research development between the two institutions.
Alongside these efforts, FAI maintains an ongoing collaboration with Universiti Mara Malaysia under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). As part of this agreement, four workshops on Internal Auditing and Taxation for undergraduate students are being presented, enhancing academic exchange and providing students with valuable insights into key areas of business education.
The IWWT has earned global recognition for its commitment to addressing critical challenges in water and wastewater technology. The research efforts not only contribute to advancing scientific knowledge but also highlight the real-world relevance of this work, drawing attention from leading global institutions and experts. As a result, valuable partnerships have been established with several prestigious organizations, including the BRICS Network University (BRICS NU), the Global Water Microbiome Consortium (GWMC), Water JPI, the South Africa Sweden University Forum (SASUF), and other international universities.
Student and faculty exchange programmes continue to be a vital component of DUT’s international engagement. One such initiative involves a collaboration with the Beijing Dance Academy (BDA), where DUT is working to invite BDA’s art troupe for a cultural exchange tour in South Africa, scheduled for September 2025.
The FMS is also making strides in its international collaborations.A project with the Universidad Veracruzana in Mexico, titled “Digital Storytelling: Accessible Architectural Spaces in South Africa and
Mexico,” begin in March 2025.This initiative is part of the Critical Media Studies programme and will facilitate cross-cultural academic exchange and innovative media practices.
DUT continues to foster global relationships through ongoing collaborations with institutions such as Kabale University in Uganda, the Higher School of Economics in Russia, and the University of the Public Service in Hungary. Faculty members from FMS are leading several international initiatives, focusing on research and academic exchange with institutions in India,Vietnam, and Hungary.
The InternationalAssociation for Research into Service Learning and Community Engagement (IARSLCE) will host its 2025 Conference in August 2025 and DUT is represented in the Conference Organizing Committee. Five DUT staff and two post-graduate students will be presenting their research papers and facilitating round table discussions at this conference. This conference will bring together students, academics, and community members to explore the role of community engagement in higher education. Also, DUT’s academics presented at the International Conference on Business, Banking, and Finance in Dublin, held in March 2025. These engagements underscores DUT’s ongoing commitment to contributing to global academic discourse and fostering impactful international partnerships.
The Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics is progressing in its efforts to establish a partnership with Purdue University in the United States.The department aims to collaborate with universities in developing nations to identify problem statements from NGOs and university research institutions. The department is working on joint research projects aimed at discovering solutions to these challenges, in collaboration with Bernard Nartey, a programme specialist at the University.
The DUT delegation made up of faculty executives, academics, and members from the executive management committee visited international universities in Nigeria and Ghana in March 2025. This visit aimed to initiate and enhance collaborative initiatives, including international guest lectures, student and staff exchanges, joint supervision of postgraduate students, joint publications, and
