With a wealth of practical experience, Prof Nemavhola is a • registered Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council
of South Africa and a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council United Kingdom. These credentials speak to his expertise, professionalism, and dedication to maintaining the highest standards in his profession.
Throughout his career, Prof Nemavhola has made substantial • contributions to research and scholarship. Recognised as
a C-Rated Scholar by the National Research Foundation, his work has been widely acknowledged for its quality and impact. He has published over 80 research articles including books, demonstrating his dedication to advancing knowledge • and contributing to the academic community. Moreover, he has supervised numerous postgraduate students, guiding and mentoring them as they pursue their own scholarly endeavours.
Prof Nemavhola’s reputation extends beyond his academic achievements. He is a respected member of the South Africa • Young Academy of Sciences, showcasing his influential role
in shaping the research landscape and contributing to the nation’s scientific advancement. His involvement in professional organisations and networks reflects his commitment to fostering collaborations and strengthening partnerships.
Engagement and Partnerships: Building and maintaining strong relationships with external stakeholders, such as government agencies, industry partners, and community organisations.The DVC:RIE plays a crucial role in fostering collaborative research projects, securing funding, and ensuring the institution’s research aligns with societal needs.
Research Funding: Identifying and pursuing opportunities for research funding, both from government grants and private sources. This includes working with researchers to develop competitive grant proposals and managing research funding allocations effectively.
Academic Strategy: Contributing to the institution’s overall academic strategy and playing a key role in shaping policies related to research, innovation, and engagement. This involves collaborating with other senior administrators and academic leaders to align the institution’s mission with its research and innovation objectives.
Communication and Outreach: Representing the institution in relevant forums and advocating for its research and innovation achievements.This includes engaging with the media, attending conferences, and participating in public outreach activities to promote the institution’s impact on society.
  His duties include overseeing and guiding the research activities and strategies of the institution, promoting excellence in research, and fostering an environment that encourages innovation and collaboration among researchers and faculty members. The following are some of Prof Nemavhola’s responsibilities:
• Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Spearheading initiatives to promote innovation, technology transfer, and entrepreneurship within the institution. This may involve establishing partnerships with industry, supporting startups, and developing programmes that encourage the translation of research findings into practical applications.
• Performance Assessment: Monitoring and evaluating the outcomes and impact of research, innovation, and engagement efforts, and implementing necessary improvements based on data-driven assessments.

He believes his strategic vision, coupled with his extensive networks, will enable him to drive the institution’s research agenda and forge strong connections with industry and academia.
