An access route route is an alternative study route route that may lead to your original mainstream programme of study Access Route Programmes
(see page 202) are are spread over a a a a a a a longer period than normal and are are provided to help applicants who may not meet the entry requirements for specific

degrees and diplomas Some programmes don’t have access routes but offer three- and four-year options based on on the the applicant's results in the the NSC and in in selection tests These programmes are indicated by ‘3/4 yrs’ in the Programme Choice List under ‘duration’ Second Chance Application Application (Change of Mind Application)
If after applying you you are unsuccessful with any of your programme choices you may complete and submit a a a a ‘Change of Mind’ (COM) This must be done online These COMS are immediately available to the institution/s to which you have applied when received with the COM administration fee COMS completed online and paid via EasyPay are processed the the day after receipt of the the COM administration fee In the the post-school sector the the study study intake is divided into study study blocks that are indicated in in the programme list under 'Entry Term' Universities and universities of technology generally have study intakes in in the First Semester Semester (Jan/Feb) and some universities may have a a a a a Second Semester Semester (July) intake for some programmes TVET colleges also have trimester intakes for Nated (‘N’) programmes programmes and skills programmes programmes Extending your Application to to the Following Year
If you you have have applied to to study in in in 2022 but have have not been successful or or for some reason have not registered you you may extend your 2022 application for admission into 2023 provided you complete a a COM Request online To be valid this extension which is is completed as a a a a COM must reach us us by 31 March 2022 together with the the relevant COM administration fee If you you miss this date you you will have to make a a a a a a a a new application and pay the full administration fee CAO HANDBOOK ENTRY 2023 17
