4. MIMI Results for the Lephalale Local Municipality
4.1 Construct A: Enablers of innovation
This section presents results for Construct A of MIMI: Municipal Enablers for Innovation. Table 2 displays the scores for Con- struct A for the Lephalale Local Municipality in comparison to the national average. As indicated, the average score for Leph- alale Local Municipality Construct A was 2, which aligns with the national average of 2. Despite the average, the municipality achieved a score of 2 in innovation linked to strategy, innovation linked to performance, processes for innovation, financial resources for innovation, physical resources for innovation, tool for managing knowledge, idea take-up process, political sup- port for innovation, and community participation in innovation. These suggest the municipality shows some enabling con- ditions for fostering innovation, although there are areas requiring improvement, particularly in human resources for innova- tion, staff incentives for innovation, inter- departmental collaboration for innovation, external collaboration and partnership for innovation, accountability and transparency to support innovation, and inclusive decision- making for innovation.

4.2 Construct b: Management support for innovation
This section presents results for Construct B of MIMI: Management Support for Innovation. Table 3 displays the scores for Construct B for the Lephalale Local Municipality in comparison to the national average. The average score for Lephalale Local Municipality was 2, which aligns with the national average. The municipality scored 2 in openness to new ideas, encouragement of learning, understanding of innovation processes, and communication by management for innovation. A score of 1 in support for testing innovations.
