4. MIMI Results for the umsobomvu Local Municipality
4.1 Construct A: Enablers of innovation
This section presents results for Construct A of MIMI: Municipal Enablers for Innovation. Table 2 displays the scores for Construct A for the Umsobomvu Local Municipality in comparison to the national average. As indicated, the average score for Umsobomvu Local Municipality in Construct A was 3, which is one point above the national average of 2. Despite the average, the municipality demonstrated strengths in several areas. It achieved a score of 5 in innovation linked to strategy, and innovation linked to performance which was the highest among all indicators. Additionally, Umsobomvu Local Municipality scored 4 in areas such as process for innovation. However, it had the lowest score in idea take up process, and community participation, getting a score of 1.

4.2 Construct b: Management support for innovation
This section presents results for Construct B of MIMI: Management Support for Innovation. Table 3 displays the scores for Construct B for the Umsobomvu Local Municipality in comparison to the national average. The average score for Umsobomvu Local Municipality was 3, which is one point above the national average. The municipality scored 3 in encouragement of learning, understanding of innovation processes, and communication by management for innovation. A score of 2 was recorded for openness to new ideas, and support for testing innovations.
