4. MIMI Results for the Drakenstein Local Municipality
4.1 Construct A: Enablers of innovation
This section presents results for Construct A of MIMI: Municipal Enablers for Innovation. Table 2 displays the scores for Construct A for the Drakenstein Local Municipality in comparison to the national average. As indicated, the average score for Drakenstein in Construct A was 2, which aligns with the national average of 2. The municipality scored 2 in innovation linked to strategy and performance, processes for innovation, physical resources for innovation, staff incentives for innovation, interdepartmental collaboration and external collaboration and partnerships for innovation. Additionally, Drakenstein scored 3 in accountability and transparency to support innovation. These suggest the municipality to show some enabling conditions for fostering innovation requires improvement across many indicators, particularly in financial and physical resources, external collaboration, and political support.
