UKZN offers innovative curricula for accredited professional degrees through dynamic teaching and learning. Research activities are conducted in state-of-the- art laboratories and span the natural, biomedical, humanities and social sciences.
The University has not only maintained its position as the most research- productive state-funded university in South Africa, but has made significant strides in teaching and learning. In 2015, UKZN was once again ranked as the top university in South Africa for research productivity. This is testimony to both teaching and research excellence at UKZN.
In addition, UKZN offers the opportunity to take part in extensive sporting and cultural activities. The University promotes access to learning that will increase educational and employment opportunities for the historically disadvantaged.
