MAGUBANE’S BOOK EXPLORES LOVEIN THE ERA OF MAGUBANE’S BOOK EXPLORES LOVEIN THE ERA OF personal culture culture to institutional culture culture and whether their actions are about about pursing knowledge and truth It is about about advancing DUT in in the interest of many generations to come Facilitating the robust question and answer session was Prof Cheryl Potgieter who has a a a a a a doctorate in psychology and thus very familiar with Maslow’s work She said it it was very interesting how Prof Mthembu had engaged Maslow’s theory in relation to DUT and also pointed out that your background does not determine if you you are functioning at at the lowest or highest level She pointed out that the the the examples which Prof Mthembu has used also indicate that the the the poorest student could be functioning at the highest level of Maslow’s Grid Dr Nonhlanhla Mthiyane Head of of School of of Education in her vote of of thanks expressed her gratitude to Prof Mthembu for challenging the the DUT Community to to go out and do tangible activities to to let the the lived DUT values be alive in in order to see the tangible difference in in the the way the the students and staff behave She emphasised that this will assist DUT to to get to to its aspired ENVISION2030 In closing Prof Moyo thanked all the contributors and attendees for for the the excellent turn out at the the 7:30am session and for for engaging actively in the dialogue In terms of participant feedback she quoted input from Dr Maud Blose an Emerging Scholar who wrote:
“Thank you Prof Mthembu for this dialogue We need more regular series of this magnitude Both staff and students need to realise that there are things things we need to to unlearn new things things to to learn learn and other things to to to re-learn We are all contributing factors to to to the development and excellence of the university It’s up to to each person to to realise whether they are a a positive contributor to to excellence (of which we we all ought to be if we we are the the right right people in the the right right place) or negative contributors i i i i i i i e e e e e e e e e hindrances’ (if we are the right people in in the the the wrong wrong place place or the the the wrong wrong people in the the the right place) Ultimately the question each person ought to be asking daily is is “What is is my contribution to how/what the university is?”
