affna Hindu College – JHC always presents itself as a leading example in
Jeducation, sports, and Cultural and extra- curricular activities in Sri Lanka. With
the same tradition past students of JHC around the world have been in forefront to
establish old boys associations to unite all the friends and families in their adopted
homes and to use it as a forum to have annual cultural and sporting activities and
also find ways to collect fund to support our alma mater. OBAs abroad and their
office bearers, act as first point of contact for anyone visiting that country to trace the
whereabouts of their college friends.

We the JHC OBA UK, are proud to be the first OBA established outside Sri Lanka
25 years ago in 1987, and celebrating our Silver Jubilee this year. We recognise and
appreciate that other JHC OBAs around the world have established well and have
close cooperation with us and between each other. At this juncture it is worthwhile
remembering that OBA Jaffna established 107 years ago in 1905 and OBA Colombo
established 102 year ago in 1910 celebrated their 100th anniversary celebrations Arunachalam
gathering of past students in Sri Lanka. It is very heart warming to see JHC OBA Thiruketheeswaran
in the UK, Canada, Norway, Germany and Switzerland organising cultural shows President 2007 & 2008
annually in the name “Kalai Arasi” which was originated from OBA Canada. Many JHC OBA UK
of our members have participated at Kalai Arasi Canada, Kalai Arasi Germany, Kalai
Arasi Norway and Kalai Arasi Switzerland to support their functions. Many of our
members from OBA (UK) participated and assisted in the planning and organising of
cultural and sporting functions abroad. Sydney, Australia organises ‘Geethavani’ every
year while OBA in Melbourne, Australia and New Jersey, USA organise their annual
functions together with cricket and sporting activities. In 2010 the OBA has

outstanding achievements and accomplishments of JHC past students in academic,
sporting, cultural, Religious and business careers. We are grateful to the members
who have the dedication in designing and maintaining the JHC OBA website and
for linking it with all the other JHC OBA websites enabling us to access all the
current news about the college and the OBA functions around the world in addition
to the informations regarding the needs of our brothers at our college in Jaffna and
throughout the world. Worldwide network of OBAs was useful to have coordinated
effort to fund sporting and any development project of our college.

Our Silver Jubilee gathering was announced in the college website allowing enough
time to anyone interested to attend to plan their holiday. Invitations are being sent to
all the OBAs throughout the world to attend to our Silver Jubilee gathering.
JHC OBAs around the world have funded our college by supplying sporting
equipment, audio visual equipment, furniture & Fitting, educational and
administrative equipment, building projects and purchase of land to improve the
college and the college grounds. We are very grateful for Jaffna OBA and Colombo
OBA for coordinating college activities with us in organising special events of the
college successfully, together with the advice and assistance of the college principal.
