Secretary’s Report
Today, Jaffna Hindu College Old Boys Association (UK) proudly celebrates its 25th
year Silver Jubilee together with its cultural event, Kalaiyarasi2012. It gives me great
pleasure to welcome you all for gracefully accepting our invitation and being present
here. I am sure you all are eagerly awaiting a feast of fantastic entertainment.
The current committee took charge in October 2010 under the leadership of
Mr. S Senthilnathan. Together, the committee has worked tirelessly on many projects
during its tenure. Cultural event, “Kalaiyarasi2011” was held on 21 May 2011 at
Ilford Town Hall. Our members overwhelmingly supported the event and it was a
mega success with net profits made in excess of £10,000.
As promised at last AGM, we have now successfully completed the Principal’s Quarters Chelliah Nakeeran
project. Two students from Jaffna Hindu were selected as part of a delegation to Secretary
compete at International Junior Science Olympiad 2011 last year in Durban, South
Africa. We partly funded their travel. One of our students won the Bronze medal at
the competition.
Currently, our committee is working on a new project; free evening classes for
vulnerable children at Mahadeva Padippaham, Ottisuttan, Sri Lanka. Initial
undertaking is to fund this project for the first three years with regular evaluation. As promised at last
