task to different OBAS.We were able to send a sum of £ 17,000 towards the need of
the school. We also contributed funds at various periods to buy computers ,books and
furniture to enable The students to continue to have an excellent education. During
the most troublesome period in Jaffna due to the ongoing war ,the school was short of
funds .to employ staff and we rendered help to fill those Vacancies.

I am proud to say that this great service continued with enthusiasm under the
presidency of Mr.Selvarajasingam, Mr.Shanmugalingam, Mr.Thiruketheeswaran,
Mr.Seveal and Mr Senthilnathan,The annual Kalaiyarasi functions were well
organised attracting the old boys, their families and friends in large numbers .This
annual event gives an opportunity to meet other OBA members, have a day of
Enjoyment and, most of all, these functions bring much needed funds to help our
Alma mater. In 2005, the scholarship fund amount according to centenary souvenir We were able to

In 2010 the OBA has paid £25,000 for the purchase of the land and the house next
to Cumaraswamy Hall. Currently this house has been refurbished by the college
and being used as the Principal’s bungalow. The completion of this land and house
purchase is continued in 2011 until this week, we heard the happy news This has
completed successfully with the current committee specially our secretary Mr.
Nakeeran’s effort.

It is pleasing to see a nice garden with a beautiful statue of goddess of learning
Saraswati in front of the Cumaraswamy hall. Thanks to one of our past presidents,
Mr.Seveal. During the last few years, the OBA took pride in inviting some of our
former teachers , Mr.Sivaramalingam Pillai, Mr.Ponnambalam, Mr. Karunakaran,
Mr.M C Francis, Mr.Maheswaran, Captain Somasundaram, Captain Santhiyapillai,
Mr.Sivasubramanium and honouring them.

The teachers were indeed happy and proud of their grateful students. We were also able
to honour at different occasions our distinguished old boys Mr.Shanmugam,MBE,Mr.
Balasunderampilai, former vice Chancellor, university of Jaffna,Kamba Bharathi
Jeyaraj, Mr.Ganeshamoorthy of Canada,Dr.Shanmugalingam, Retd Consultant
obstetrician, Journalist and MP Sarvanbavan from Srilanka, Mr.Jogamoorthy,
OBE, Dr Anaimugan Consultant Gynaecologist from New Zealand, Dr M Niranjan
Professor in Electronics at the University of Southampton, Mr Asokan Vice President
Colombo OBA, Mr Shan Karansingh , College & Sri Lankan Pole Vault Record
holder and Mr Tharmakulasingham from Jaffna.

I am sure this great service to our almamater and to the new generation will continue
with the new presidents and committees for many more years to come.
